About Us

Reflejos is a student publication in Spanish by Wake Forest University students. We publish original work by undergraduates written in Spanish as well as original artwork that has been inspired by Spanish classes and/or the Hispanic speaking societies we study. All submissions are reviewed by a committee of faculty members in the Department of Romance Languages. Works are chosen for publication on the basis of their creativity, originality, and appropriateness to the journal's vision, regardless of the level of the student. Our goal is to encourage cultural awareness through the recognition of artistic achievement in Spanish. The journal is currently published annually, and volumes are distributed at the end of the spring semester free of charge in Greene Hall.

How we began:

Reflejos began as a way to house and share the creative work of Wake Forest students involved in extracurricular activities. Dr. Candelas Gala initiated and promoted the process of organizing these efforts. In 2001, Prof. Jennifer Wooten created Reflejos; her aim was to give voice to the ingenuity of our students. The magazine has since then been supported by Dr. Gala and Dr. Woodrow Hood, Chair of our Department.

This 2011, in celebration of Reflejos’ ten year anniversary, Dr. Karina Bautista, current editor, saw only fitting the creation of a website that will allow digital access to the Magazine. Dr. Hood’s encouragement and support made the completion of this project possible.
